Tumaiani lives in the coastal community of Kilifi Township, home to approx 35,000 residents. Typical houses are constructed of wood and have dirt floors. The primary ethnic group is Mijikenda and the most commonly spoke language is Kiswahili.

The regional diet consists of maize, beans, banana, fish and cassava. Common health problems in this area include malaria, worms, coughs and skin infections. Most adults are unemployed, but some work as day laborers and earn the equivalent of $22 per month. The community needs water, drug abuse rehabilitation programs and scholastic materials.

Your sponsorship allows Tumaini to receive Bible teaching, water purification education, immunizations, mosquito nets, educational field trips, counseling, sports and tuition.
